Handgun Safety - Concealed Carry

OCC's Handgun Safety Course is taught by NYS DCJS-certified firearms instructors and fulfills requirements for obtaining an unrestricted pistol permit "Concealed Carry Permit" in Onondaga, Madison, Cayuga, and Seneca counties.

·         This course is a 16-hour classroom experience with an additional 2 hours of live fire experience.

·         Students will be expected to bring their issued course materials every day of the course.

·         Students will be expected to pass a written final exam to complete the classroom portion of the course.

·         Students will then be expected to pass the live fire portion of course using simunition firearms.

·         The course is held over 2 days in classroom sessions, with 2 hours of weapons manipulation and live fire instruction and evaluation on the 2^nd day.

·         In addition to passing the written test with a minimum score of 80%, students must also demonstrate the ability to:

o   Load/unload a pistol

o   Draw a pistol from a holster and acquire the target

o   Demonstrate the correct immediate action drills for a type I or type II stoppage.

o   Hit an 11 inch by 25.5 inch target at a distance of 4 yards with 4 out of 5 simunation rounds.

·         Students are required to attend all 16 hours of instruction. Any late arrivals or early departures will be required to purchase a ticket for a future class.

DO NOT BRING ANY FIREARMS OR AMMUNITION TO THIS COURSE. ALL COURSE MATERIALS TO INCLUDE FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION WILL BE PROVIDED.
